A historian who once aspired to become an educator, after the destruction of the Hosnian system Beaumont Kin abandoned his academic career to become a captain in the Resistance’s intelligence division. He offers the cause broad knowledge on a variety of topics.
Stationed at the Resistance base on Ajan Kloss, Kin took part in combat training alongside Rose Tico and Kaydel Connix, becoming close with both of them. He helped Rey decipher the ancient Jedi texts that she had brought from the planet of Ahch-To, where Luke Skywalker had kept watch over them.
When Poe Dameron declared at the Resistance base that their worst fears had been confirmed, that “Somehow, Palpatine returned,” Beaumont Kin immediately offered some possibilities on how this could be true: “Dark science. Cloning. Secrets only the Sith knew.”
On this quote, I appear to have experienced the Mandela effect, a phenomenon where people remember something incorrectly. I swear I heard Kin say “Must be Sith magic.” I definitely did not hear the word cloning, and was surprised that the novelization of Rise of Skywalker stated that cloning was involved, something I had not expected!
